God will truly be entertained, we sure were! Thanks Jimmy! Your musicianship and music will live on to be enjoyed by us old fans and discovered by new ones. Rest in Peace Brother.

I met & worked with Jimmy in Albuquerque in 1979; he received freight for the record store I managed. The first time John Lennon's "Starting Over" was played locally, we stood there staring at the radio with our mouths open. When it was over, we laughed & hugged in the joy of the moment. When he found out I played bass, he made me play on a single he recorded called "Albuquerque Bound" & introduced me to Zappa when he came through town. Several months ago, out of the blue, I attempted to contact him via email & he responded.

R>I>P Jimmy!<br />I never met you, but:<br />My mom (an H.U.D. bureaucrat, inter alii) gave me her perspective on The Mothers because of track 19 (trust me, I have the vinyl) on Uncle Meat! (Those who know me...)<br />"Lonesome Cowboy Burt" vocals gave hope to all baritones or lower in an inchoate tenor world.

I know he did a whole lot more than Lonesome Cowboy Burt, but that is a classic is a classic performance.<br /><br />My story is that I saw the band at Lake Geneva in the summer of 1969. I was afraid to talk with them, but they turned out to be the nicest bunch of guys. The venue was an indoor/outdoor deal, and at one time the entire band with friends were sitting outside on the grass. If only I had asked if I could sit in with them for a photo...I still kick myself to this day.<br /><br />My condolences to all of his friends and family.
