Farewell, Jimmy -- thanks for all the good stuff, the laughs and the music.

Jimmy, you will be missed, truly. I knew you as Sonny, when you lived in Anthony, and I knew your sons, when I taught at Gadsden HS in the mid-70s. You were always very sweet and fun. Love and blessings to your family, Judy Downs-Lombardi <br /><br />[EIMG]f152c7_judylombardi[/EIMG]

Heard the news today about Jimmy's passing. Wherever you are, thank you for all you did with the Mothers. My absolute favorite band of all time. I've gotten more joy from all those albums than from any drug or drink throughout my life and still do; half my Ipod is Mothers... I first heard the Mothers when I was just going into high school, summer 1966 and haven't been the same since, and for that I'm eternally grateful to Jimmy and Frank and all the Mothers. Adios and Peace forever Jim.
I encountered JCB, DP, Ruth and Ian in<br />Los Angeles when the original Grandmothers were doing a show at the Roxy. They'd come to see Air Pocket (Fowlers (all 5 of 'em), Chester, Ike) play at a jazz club.<br /><br />Being a profoundly affected Mothers/Zappa fan, I spoke with JCB and<br />most likely gushed the usual inane fanboy comments that he'd heard<br />forever.<br /><br />I clearly remember his compassion for, and understanding of, how this<br />music affected people. I made some remark along the lines of how<br />special the whole phenomenon was and without missing a beat he said "<br />you're goddamn right!". He knew. It's a lucky lot that gets the<br />Mothers/Zappa. He was simply and genuinely appreciative of my respect and gracious in his enthusiasm. <br />I'd have JCB over for a grill and a beer anytime.
Thanks for the memories, Jimmy! <br />I will always treasure those early Mothers albums.
